Our work

Mission, programs and impact

Our mission, the programs we run, and what has come of them. All on this page.

Our mission

To support young people struggling with their identity through meaningful mentorship that helps them navigate challenges and build a positive future.

Who we are here for

We are a youth charity. Everything we run is built around young people aged 15 to 25 and the families who are trying to support them.

Young people, 15 to 25

Teenagers and young adults who want mentorship, connection, and somewhere consistent to grow, in a structured and supervised environment.

Young people doing it tough

Those facing isolation, disengagement from school, or a lack of positive guidance. UMF exists for them first.

Families looking for support

Parents who want a values based environment where their young person is known by name, fed, and looked after.

The path does not end at taking part. Young people who come through the program go on to volunteer, then mentor the next group. Several of our current team started as participants.

What we run

Two programs, both free. One is paused, the other is still running.

Saturday Group Mentoring

Paused right now

Weekly sessions every Saturday from 6 to 8 pm involving group mentoring, fitness activities and discussions focused on personal development.

Currently paused. Registrations stay open, and everyone on the list hears first when group nights start again.

What a group night looks like
  1. Roll in and settle

Doors open. Young people catch up with mates and mentors before the night starts.

  2. Real talk

An open, facilitated conversation about what actually matters: identity, pressure, school, work, family. No judgement.

  3. Life skills session

Hands on workshops covering public speaking, fitness, leadership and resilience. Things you take home and use.

  4. Food and one on one time

The night ends with a meal at the same table, plus time with a mentor for anyone who wants it.

One on One Mentoring

Running now

Individual support for young people facing difficulties in their lives, with mentors providing guidance tailored to their circumstances.

Still running. One on one mentoring is continuing while group nights are paused. Message us and we will match a mentor to the young person.

Questions

Common questions

Which programs are running right now?

One on one mentoring is running. Saturday group mentoring is paused. Registrations stay open, and everyone on the list will hear from us as soon as group nights start again.

Is the program free?

Yes. Unity Mentorship Foundation is a registered charity and our mentoring programs are free, so cost is never the reason a young person misses out.

How do I check that you are a registered charity?

Open our ACNC Charity Certificate, or search ABN 93 693 969 854 on the ACNC Charity Register at acnc.gov.au. Full details are in the charity status section of this page.

Are sessions supervised?

Yes. Every session is supervised by mentors and staff who hold a current Working with Children Check, and our Child Safety and Safeguarding Policy applies to everyone on site.

What age group is the program for?

Young people aged 15 to 25. We tailor the support within that range, so a 15 year old and a 24 year old get different things out of it.

Where do you meet?

At the Circles of Light Centre, Unit 1, 5/7 Moira Ave, Reservoir VIC 3073, in Melbourne's north.

How do I register my child or myself?

Use the "Register a young person" button, which joins our registration WhatsApp group, or email info@unitymentorshipfoundation.org.au.

Start with a message.
